31st Cement and Concrete Science Conference - First call for abstracts

Novel Developments and Innovation in Cementitious Materials

12-13th September 2011

The conference will be held in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Imperial College London, situated in the South Kensington, famous for world leading museums and the Albert Hall. Imperial College London is a science-based institution with a reputation for excellence in teaching and research.

29th Cement and Concrete Science Conference - a brief review

The recent Cement and Concrete Science Conference was a great success, with 65 delegates from 13 different countries presenting the latest advances related to the study and use of cementitious materials, to academics, students and industry.

There were over 30 oral presentations and 9 posters presented, with the Agar microscopy award for the best micrograph presented to Rachel Taylor (University of Leeds) and the Ardex award for the best student presentation presented to Klaartje de Weerdt (Sintef, Norway).

Finally the evening of September 8th featured the Inaugural Lecture of Professor Ian Richardson, entitled 'A Closer Look at the Built Environment's "Glue"', followed by a brief buffet and wine reception.

Aims and objectives

The committee's mission is: "To provide support and educational activities for those who have an interest in the science and technology of traditional and specialist cements and concretes".

The committee membership is drawn from UK industry and academia.

It organises the annual 'Cement and Concrete Science Conference' and circulates a bi-monthly newsletter by email.
