Apply for accreditation

The Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) provides a professional global network to form a major international engineering institution which encompasses the complete Materials Cycle – embracing exploration, mining/quarrying/extraction, minerals processing, materials processing, manufacture/finishing, products/applications, recycling and sustainability, materials research and development.

IOM3 is deeply involved in, and committed to, the education and training of Professional Materials, Minerals and Mining Engineers. In this regards one of our major functions is to advise, provide, monitor and accredit appropriate education and training activities for Materials, Minerals and Mining engineers and technologists, in the maintenance and promotion of the Profession.

In particular, IOM3 is empowered within its constitution to Accredit university/college programmes on behalf of the UK Engineering Council (ECUK), a body which itself oversees the appropriate training of graduates after university/college, specifically monitoring the acquisition of so-called Engineering Competences, normally achieved during the early years of employment of the graduate in industry.

IOM3 also assists in the development of suitable employer/company Initial Professional Development Schemes for young graduates.

For further information on all aspects of accreditation and to receive more detailed information please contact Helene Burd, Accreditation Manager, on +44(0)1476 513888, or use our online enquiry form.
