sachet systems, eyedrop containers, co-extruded bottles, ergonomic closures,
disposable trocar, sterile feeding systems, etc. Steering development of new
components from concept through prototypes to product licence. Material
selection for product protection, sterilisation resistance and robustness.
Advising on stability test programmes with reference to ICH requirements.
Recommending performance qualification procedures to validate new or amended
processes. Practical training in physical testing of pack or device
performance. Writing component specifications to include technical
requirements, materials & test standards and SOPs with regard to MCA,
EMEA and FDA expectations. Solving problems linked to manufacturing,
engineering, product stability, incompatibility with a pack and user problems.
Wide knowledge of suppliers from Europe and N. America for all types of primary
packs. Analysis of returned complaint samples with customer follow-up,
especially in hospitals.

Providing specialist knowledge for packaging component evaluation,
investigation of process improvements and advice on new materials, methods and
technology on a site manufacturing tablets, ointments, suppositories,
dressings, eye drops, sterile liquid and powder injections. Founder Member and
First Chairman of the IOP Pharmaceutical Packaging Forum. Set up in 1984, the
PPF meets 3 times per year and provides the opportunity for packaging
