Sustainable construction housing plan

The UK’s Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform is seeking feedback on a joint Government and industry strategy for sustainable construction.

The plan is to help the industry deliver more sustainable construction methods and products, and is geared towards decision-makers in Government and industry in England and Wales.

The draft strategy’s key areas include:

  • Reducing the carbon footprint of activities within the construction sector
  • Producing zero net waste at construction site level
  • Developing voluntary agreements and initiatives between the construction industry and its clients to help reduce their carbon footprint
  • Creating a safer industry by improving skills, boosting the number of workers receiving training and retaining more skilled workers.
