The award is made towards the cost of travelling to and attending either the International Conference on Composite Materials (ICCM) or the European Conference on Composite Materials (ECCM). This year the Board reviewed the Abstracts that had been submitted and made the award to Luigi Gigliotti for his paper entitled ‘Enabling faster structural design: Efficient multiscale simulation of large composite structures’. Mr Gigliotti is currently studying for a PhD at Imperial College in London. He will use the award to present his paper at this year’s ICCM in Copenhagen from 19 to 24 July.

The European region of the ICCM has also selected his paper as one of two regional finalists. During the conference he will  present his paper in a special session named “Tsai Best Student Paper”. He will be competing for the Tsai award against six other finalists from other world regions.
